Internal Dispute Resolution

What is IDR

We facilitate dispute proceedings between parties in order to get them to agree and attempt, in good faith, to settle their dispute through an alternative dispute resolution option.

The IDR process is interest-based and not rights-based, meaning that it is focused on how the needs of each party can be met through a negotiated agreement.

Our Process

FAQ’s

  • The facilitator, an impartial expert in the subject matter, as well as the parties relevant to that dispute.

  • The parties concerned will be given an opportunity to provide documentation prior to the meeting. The parties will then be given the opportunity to share their views during the meeting.

Should a negotiated settlement be reached in the meeting, the agreement, as drafted by the facilitator must be signed by parties prior to the end of the meeting.

  • A process in which the parties to a dispute, with the assistance of a dispute resolution practitioner, the mediator, identify the disputed issues, develop options, consider alternatives and endeavour to reach an agreement.

Our goal is to bring the community back in community schemes, and we believe through informal mediation this goal is achievable.

Harmony starts here!
